What we do
We make hand-tied fishing flies in Kenya and sell them directly, alongside a short list of gear worth carrying with them. Every pattern is tied one at a time by a professional tyer, on carbon-steel hooks, to a written specification we publish on the product page.
We are a small company doing one thing carefully rather than a catalogue trying to cover everything. The range is deliberately short: twelve patterns, in the sizes that actually get fished, plus curated boxes for people who would rather not assemble a selection themselves.
Why we publish the spec
Buy flies from most retailers and the disclosure amounts to a pattern name and a size. The largest brand in the category describes the origin of its flies with a single word: imported.
We think that is a strange way to sell a craft product. So we publish the hook, the bead, the wing and the rib for every pattern, and we name the country and the maker. If a bead is tungsten rather than brass — which changes how fast the fly sinks, and is the entire reason to buy that version — we say so rather than leaving you to guess.
Where we are
Driftline Goods Limited is registered in Kenya and does the making. A United States entity handles market access so that customers in North America can buy without international friction. One brand, two entities, no ambiguity about where the flies come from: Kenya, always, said out loud.
What we will not do
We will not describe these flies as made anywhere other than Kenya. We will not use a country of origin as a substitute for telling you how a fly is built. We will not publish catch claims we cannot stand behind, and we will not name a tyer without their agreement.
